Payments for every business model
Every industry gets paid differently. A subscription needs retries and card updates, a marketplace needs split settlements, a hotel needs to authorise today and capture at check-in. Below are the eight business models we serve most often — the needs we hear in every first call, and the Target services that cover them under one contract.
Eight business models, one integration
Each model below lists two or three needs we hear most often and the services that answer them. Whatever you switch on later — payouts, subscriptions, a new currency — runs on the integration you already have.
E-commerce
An online shop lives or dies by checkout. You need a payment page that takes Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay and Google Pay in one step, passes 3-D Secure 2.2 without a challenge for most buyers, and refunds a single item from a basket without a support ticket. You also need to stop a stolen card from turning into a €15 chargeback while letting a genuine first-time buyer through.
Plugins for Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, OpenCart, PrestaShop and Tilda put you live in an afternoon; smart routing across 15+ acquirers keeps the average approval rate at 88%.
SaaS & subscriptions
Software revenue is recurring revenue, and most of it is lost quietly: a card expires, an issuer declines a renewal, nobody notices until the customer is gone. You need tokenised cards charged on schedule, a free trial that converts without re-entering card details, and retries spread over several days before an account is paused.
Price in USD, EUR and GBP from a single plan, settle in the currency you pay salaries in, and let a finance department pay the annual plan by invoice instead of a card. MRR, churn and failed-payment reports are in the dashboard, or by CSV and API.
Marketplaces
A marketplace takes one payment and owes money to many people. You need to charge the buyer once, hold the funds until the order is confirmed, keep your commission and pay the rest to sellers — in their currency, to a card, an IBAN or an e-wallet, from €0.25 per payout, in one batch or through the API.
You also need to spot the seller who buys from their own shop with stolen cards before the chargebacks arrive: velocity limits and device fingerprinting watch both sides of every transaction.
Travel & hospitality
Bookings are large, international and cancelled often. You need to authorise a card today and capture at check-in or departure, take payment in the traveller's currency and settle in yours, and refund a cancelled booking in full or in part without asking for card details again.
Travel is a favourite of card-testing fraud and “service not received” disputes, so you also need chargeback alerts that reach you before the dispute is filed — and the booking data to answer it in one click.
Built for scale
Whatever you sell, the platform underneath is the same: PCI DSS Level 1 processing, 3-D Secure 2.2, tokenisation, a rules-based fraud engine with machine-learning scoring and settlement in 25 currencies. A Black Friday peak, an enrolment week or a game launch runs on the same infrastructure as a quiet Tuesday — no maintenance windows, no per-industry contract.
From app stores to lecture halls
Four more models where payments are the product itself: instant delivery, seasonal peaks, fast withdrawals and invoices that must be paid by someone other than the customer.
Digital goods & apps
Credits, top-ups, in-app purchases and downloads: small amounts, thousands of times a day, delivered the instant the payment is approved. You need one-click repeat purchases on a saved token, velocity rules that stop a card-testing script at the third attempt, and a price shown in local currency to a buyer in Warsaw or Dubai.
There is nothing to ship back, so every dispute is a loss — pre-dispute alerts and automatic refunds on flagged transactions matter more here than anywhere else.
Education
Schools, universities and online courses collect large fees from people who are not the student: a parent, an employer, a scholarship fund. You need tuition split into monthly instalments, a payment link that can be sent by e-mail or in a message, and an invoice with a card button for a company paying for its employee.
International students pay in their home currency and you settle in GBP or EUR. Enrolment week brings a year's volume in ten days; the bursar reconciles every payment against a student number in the dashboard or by CSV export.
Gaming & entertainment
Players top up in seconds and expect withdrawals to be just as fast. You need deposits approved on the first try at 2 a.m. on a Sunday, winnings or creator revenue paid out to cards and e-wallets within minutes of a request, and geo, BIN and velocity rules that keep out the jurisdictions and card-testers you cannot afford.
Gaming passes an extended compliance review and may carry a rolling reserve for the first months. We tell you every condition before you sign, and support answers at 2 a.m. too.
Professional services
Agencies, consultancies, clinics and law firms send invoices, not carts. You need an invoice that gets paid by card in one click, a retainer charged on the first of the month without chasing, and a deposit collected by payment link before the first meeting. Clients abroad pay in their currency and you receive GBP.
None of it requires a developer. Create links, invoices and subscriptions in the dashboard, give your accountant read-only access, and export the month to CSV or straight into your accounting software through the API.
Not surewhich fits?
Most businesses are two of these at once — a course platform with a marketplace of tutors, a game studio selling merchandise. Tell a manager what you sell and where, and you get a plan, a fee sheet and a sandbox account within one business day. Or compare the plans yourself: every fee is on the pricing page.
