Online acquiring
Accept Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, Google Pay and the local methods your customers already use — through one integration and one contract. Target tokenises every card, runs 3-D Secure 2.2 and routes each payment to the best of 15+ acquiring banks, so more customers get through and you are settled in the currency you choose.
One gateway for every way to pay
Everything between the “Pay” button and the money in your account is handled by Target: the payment page, card tokenisation, strong customer authentication, fraud scoring, routing and settlement. You integrate once, then switch methods, acquirers and currencies on from the dashboard — no new contracts, no second integration.
Hosted checkout
A PCI-certified payment page hosted by Target. Add your logo, colours and domain, pick the fields you need and go live the same day — card data never touches your servers.
API / server-to-server
Full control of the flow from your own back end: authorise, capture, refund and void over REST, idempotent requests and a webhook for every status change.
3-D Secure 2.2
EMV 3-D Secure 2.2 with the frictionless flow built in. Low-risk payments pass without a challenge screen, and liability for fraudulent chargebacks shifts to the card issuer.
Smart routing across 15+ acquirers
Each transaction goes to the acquiring bank with the best approval rate for that card, country and amount. Soft declines are retried through a second acquirer automatically.
One-click & tokenised payments
Cards are replaced with network tokens on the first purchase. Returning customers pay with one tap, expired cards update themselves and subscriptions never break.
Apple Pay / Google Pay
Wallet payments on the web and in-app, with Face ID or a fingerprint instead of a card form. Switched on by default in the hosted checkout and the embedded widget.
Checkout that converts
88%
Average payment conversion across Target merchants — started payments that end in a successful authorisation.
Most lost payments are not fraud. They are slow pages, a card form that breaks on a phone, a price in the wrong currency or an issuer that distrusts the acquirer. Our checkout removes each of these before the customer notices: it renders in under a second, shows the price in the shopper’s currency, recognises the card brand as they type and sends the payment to the acquirer most likely to approve it. Every element has been tested on real traffic, and every improvement ships to all merchants at once.
Under the hood
- Page load
- Under 1 second on a mobile connection. The page is pre-rendered and served from edge locations in Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
- Languages
- 30+ languages, detected from the browser. Currency and number formats follow the customer’s locale; you can override both per checkout.
- Card form
- Detects the card brand as the customer types, formats the number, validates the expiry date and CVC before submission and shows the scheme logo.
- Saved cards
- Returning customers see their cards and pay with a single click. Only network tokens are stored — never full card numbers.
- Mobile-first
- One screen, numeric keypads for numbers, wallet buttons at the top and the pay button always in view. No zooming, no scrolling.
- Branding
- Your logo, colours and typeface, plus a custom domain such as pay.yourshop.com — customers never feel they have left your site.
Cards, wallets and bank transfers
Every major card scheme, the wallets people already carry on their phones and the account-to-account methods that dominate European e-commerce. All of them are enabled from the dashboard under one contract, with one settlement and one report — and each new method appears on your checkout without a line of code.
Need a local method that is not on the wall — iDEAL, Bancontact, Blik, Przelewy24 or MB Way? We add methods on request through our partner network; most take a few days to switch on. Ask your manager.
From tapto settlement
Customer pays
The customer enters a card or taps Apple Pay on your hosted page, widget or app. The card number is encrypted in the browser and never reaches your servers.
Tokenise & 3DS
Target swaps the card for a token, scores the transaction with the fraud engine and runs 3-D Secure 2.2 — frictionless for low-risk payments, a challenge only when the issuer insists.
Route to best acquirer
The routing engine picks the acquiring bank with the highest approval rate for that BIN, country and amount, and retries a soft decline through a second acquirer within the same session.
Settle to your account
Approved funds are settled in one of 25 currencies on a daily, weekly or custom schedule, with a per-transaction report in the dashboard and by API.
A typical card payment — including a frictionless 3-D Secure check — is authorised in under two seconds. Every step is visible in the dashboard and pushed to your system as a webhook, so your order status never lags behind the money.
Three ways in. Pick the one that fits your team
Start with the hosted page and move to the widget or the API later — the same merchant account, tokens and reports carry over. The sandbox is open from day one with test cards for every scenario, and our integration engineers answer in the shared chat while you build.
Hosted page
Redirect the customer to a Target-hosted checkout and receive a webhook when they pay. No front-end code and no PCI questionnaire beyond the short SAQ A. Most merchants are live in an afternoon.
Embedded widget
Drop one JavaScript snippet into your page and the card form renders inside your layout, in a frame we control. Your design, our compliance. Works with any framework and with Apple Pay and Google Pay out of the box.
Direct API
Server-to-server for teams that own the whole checkout: authorise, capture, refund and void over REST, idempotent requests, webhooks and SDKs for Node.js, Python, PHP, Java, Kotlin and Swift. Requires SAQ D or a tokenisation proxy.
Selling on a platform? Ready-made plugins for Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, OpenCart, PrestaShop and Tilda install in minutes — no code, the same dashboard and the same rates.
One rate per transaction. No setup fee
1.9% + €0.20
Start plan, per successful EU card payment. No monthly fee, no minimum volume.
Begin on Start at 1.9% + €0.20, move to Business from 1.4% + €0.20 for €99 a month once volume grows, or ask for interchange++ on Enterprise. Non-EU cards add 1.0%, currency conversion is a flat 0.5% mark-up, a chargeback costs €15 and payouts start at €0.25 — every fee is on one page.
Onboarding takes 2–5 business days: you upload the company documents, we run KYC/KYB checks and sign the agreement. The sandbox is available immediately, so your developers can integrate while compliance is in progress. A hosted-page integration usually takes a few hours; a direct API integration one to two weeks.
Not with the hosted page or the embedded widget: card data goes straight from the customer’s browser to Target, which is certified PCI DSS Level 1, so you only complete the short SAQ A questionnaire. A direct server-to-server integration means card numbers pass through your systems and requires SAQ D or a tokenisation proxy — we will advise which route suits you.
The routing engine reads the decline code. Soft declines — an issuer time-out, a temporary limit, a 3-D Secure step that failed for technical reasons — are retried through a second acquirer within the same session, without the customer re-entering the card. Hard declines such as a stolen card or insufficient funds are returned at once with a clear reason in the dashboard and by webhook.
Yes. Target connects to 15+ acquiring banks and PSPs, and we can add your current acquirer to the routing pool so that transactions keep flowing through it while you gain a fallback route and one place for reporting. Enterprise merchants can set routing rules by card brand, country and amount. See the fee table for what changes and what does not.
